I don't have a Facebook account, but what is pictured does appear weird, especially when he says "at izzy stradling and the juju hounds".

It could be nothing at all (I've not asked). I always thought "Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds" ended in 1993 to be honest, and everything released after that was just "Izzy Stradlin" even though Rick, Mac, Eddie etc were still involved. I'll be upset if Rick's gone. I never expected to see the Ju Ju Hounds live but always hoped that one day Izzy, Rick and Taz would share a stage  They've worked together for 20+ years, released 11 albums and over 100+ songs. |

Another option could be that he has just finished an izzy and juju hounds album, it started with the juju hounds and that is where it has just ended. Maybe we should expect an izzy and juju hounds release? Just a though. I hate cryptic, that's why I don't do crosswords.

This facebook account seems to me too haphazard to be something THE Rick Richards would want to present to his fans. I don't trust that it is real. I ignored it for the Rick Richards appreciation thread I started - there isn't a great deal on Rick in the internet. And another thing, it ain't Ju Ju Hounds without Jimmy and Chalo. Their sound as a rhythm section was an integral part. I don't see Izzy or Rick, nor Taz and JT wanting to call any other line-up Ju Ju Hounds. Of course I could be wrong but that is my best guess.
Of course Jimmy and Charlie joining Rick and Izzy et al for a handful of song recordings, maybe an EP, to be released for us in 2013 would be fucking fabulous.

I don't want to deviate from the topic of Rick possibly leaving the band, but... Hello Sen. Dry up? There hasn't exactly been a flood. I still say that facebook page is peculiar. Compared to other bands I'd say it has been a flood  Not recently perhaps, but I don't know any other band/artist with the same track record as Izzy for releasing albums. 1998 - 117* 1999 - Ride On 2001 - River 2002 - On Down The Road 2005 - Like A Dog 2007 - Miami (x2) 2007 - Fire 2008 - Concrete 2009 - Smoke 2010 - Wave of Heat 2012 - 2 Singles + video ^ Bearing in mind that we've had previous confirmation of other projects "happening" in the off-years, such as the unreleased Izzy/Slash/Duff album, Izzys involvement with "The Project" (Velvet Revolver), Izzys frequent on/off again touring with Axl/GNR, and pretty sure Timo said something about another album after Wave of Heat which we never heard?.... etc. Admittedly, sometimes it feels like a drought, but I put that down to Izzy just not being all that communicative online. If he had a Twitter/Facebook/website to keep fans up to date it probably wouldn't make the months/years seemingly drag on, waiting for something to happen. Not many bands consistently release albums like Izzy does though, and it still amazes me that even though every album may have one or two "fillers", most of it is pretty damn catchy straight up RNR  |

I would also say that Izzy released a lot of material. The problem is more that there is almost no news at all in between releases.
For instance, I waited a while moving to the new board, because news is slow most of the time. But I would still not want to miss any, if there is something interesting to know.

Two years after Wave of Heat, I've grown tired of that album (and older albums) and am anxious for new material... the two singles were great, very cool tracks, but after so many spins you just want more... I expected more releases by now, another new song(s) or the full album, wonder why nothing happened. It's like he's moved on, maybe the two songs were a 'test' and sales were so bad he thought 'fuck it I'll just record them really for my own'. Also, has someone already sent Rick a facebook message about what the Izzy status means? |
