The band is called Dirtfoot and I liked them enough after finding them on Reverbnation, for which I blame Willie Stradlin, and so I followed them and found that they traveled from Louisiana to Vermont to do a gig. Hot damn!
I am realizing that the Other Bands section is not in the public part of the message board and I'd rather guests to the forum see this besides our small membership.
I've been participating in pledge drives to help artists pay for a recording in exchange for updates of the process and early access to the completed release. I just pledged for one of these for the fourth time - if the band doesn't reach it's goal by a deadline, in 17 days, then they don't collect the pledges made and don't head into the studio just yet.
If I knew any rich music fans I'd just bother them with this but maybe some guests visiting the sight are those kind of people - you know who you are and I don't. The link below is a professional actor doing a satirical advert for the band. It is entertaining to watch even if you have no interest in pledging or no money to pledge with because the actor is good.
of course if Izzy did a pledge drive I'd give his campaign more money than I've given to anyone else....

and so I did. I saw the Ben Miller Band songs on their home page uploaded for online listening. I listened to the songs Get Right Church and Your Dyin' Ass because I liked the song titles. Loved them, especially the drumming on Get Right Church.
They got the opening act slot on the current ZZ Top tour - good for them. I just did a quick search in YouTube... there is an upload of a performance clip I believe called Jager Bomb Song/War Pigs. I'll be checking that out later. Anyone know what a Jager Bomb is? I have read Ron Thal reference it too.

I just googled jager bomb. Pour Red Bull into a regular glass, then drop in a shot glass full of Jagermeister. Shoot the whole thing. BLECH! we don't have an appropriate emoticon to represent my repulsion

I'm pretty thrilled today to learn that one of my heroes, Will Kimbrough (see avatar), is starting a Kickstarter campaign to fund the release of his newest solo album called Sideshow Love.
I subscribe to Will's YouTube channel were he releases video communications called Lick of the Day and plays a little music, gives news on tour schedule and more. He has just finished an album with friends as a group called Willie Sugarcapps and the LOTD series has featured Will's various beloved instruments he plays during the recording process. In this clip below he is announcing live gigs by the band in support of the album.
I post this info in here because I admire Izzy's DIY style of ownership and release of his music. Izzy don't tweet but a lot of other artists I enjoy keep their fans informed, sometimes teased, and I like that. Also, Willie Stradlin released cover of Oklahoma's Got Me Loving You and Willie Sugarcapps song featured here is Oh, Colorado. Coincidence? You betcha.
