Spotted a cryptic tweet from chopaway today: "developing a new site which Izzy fans might like =)" Curiosity killed the alicejitterbug - what's it all about, she wonders? I didn't mean for it to sound cryptic, just limited to 140 chars on twitter I posted a followup tweet which I'll copy below:- It's also not a new message board, and not a new design for chopaway.com. It's not even an "Izzy site", just something I think Izzy fans will like because there happens to be a little page about Izzy on the site

Sooooo......will. Can I see Izzy's little page yet? Also, I've no where else to put this and it doesn't warrant it's own thread so here is an excerpt with an Izzy Related Reference - Source is in Compulsions newsletter I subscribe to - On February 3, DJ Reverend Eddi of UK internet radio station TBFM conducted an interview with Rob Carlyle, frontman of New York City band THE COMPULSIONS. " TBFM: So what sets THE COMPULSIONS apart from other bands? Rob: You mean bands these days? I just think we're better than all of 'em. I mean, if you don't think you're the best at what you do, then you shouldn't be doing it. Yeah, our core sound is that straight-up rock 'n' roll sound. If you like THE STONES and AC/DC and THE DOLLS, we can deliver those types of straight-up-the-middle, fun, cool, punky, bluesy rock 'n' roll songs. We got a ton of those. But we'll also throw you a curve ball and we'll have a song that's like an Irish jig. Or we'll have some sort of like weird goth/industrial type thing with drum machines and synth bass and backwards guitars. Or we'll do a sad country song. There's like a 45-second, MOTÖRHEAD-esque, in-your-face, real hard punk song in there. There's a reggae-style song. We've put out three EPs and a full-length record and in those 28 songs we've touched on so many genres and sub-genres of rock 'n' roll, I haven't heard [any other bands these days] do that. TBFM: It's very reminiscent of what IZZY STRADLIN did with THE JUJU HOUNDS. Rob: Yeah. TBFM: What are your plans for THE COMPULSIONS in 2013? Rob: I'm always writing so I'm thinking of maybe going in [to the recording studio] and starting on 4 or 5 songs and see how they go. As far as live shows, it's a tough lineup to corral because they play in much bigger bands than mine… so I'm always kind of like working around their schedules and honestly, I would love to steal them from those bands. But support from you guys and the fans and the great press and everything, all those things amount to something. Brick by brick, little by little. So maybe one day I'll steal them [laughs] and we could do more. Hopefully, I'll be making an announcement soon. But thanks for asking, it means a lot to me." Listen to, or not , the entire interview here: soundcloud.com/the-compulsions/reverend-eddi-interviews-rob-carlyle

A little on the trashy side, which I like. The country stuff ain't in YouTube
I got one Compulsions album and liked a few songs - it was OK. I got one of their EPs to get another song I wanted and ended up listening to them a bit more. Then I got another EP and have been playing the shit out of them, the songs dovetail into various mixed genres of compilations I make like country, punk, funk, torch and devil-may-care blues bash ups. Simple stuff with tasty riffs that sneak up on you after a few listens and in different contexts - slow burn. And Richard Fortus is stellar on the new stuff, but then again I'm partial.

Sorry about the lack of updates, I got caught up with paying work so had to shelve this site until that was completed The site is actually online now. I'm just doing my final testing and then I'll post the URL

None of the following is endorsed/approved/affiliated with Izzy. This is 100% unofficial.... Most of the testing has been completed so I'd like to invite Izzy fans to be the first to check it out The URL of my new site is nogig.in/_?It allows fans to ask artists to perform near them using embeddable maps and tracked social media. If you want to see the Izzy Stradlin page you can go directly to it at: izzy.nogig.in/europe?, or my personal favourite: izzy.nogig.in/uk? - all URL's lead Izzy fans to the same page so click on either If you want to see Izzy live (I think we all do) then click on your country (or your continent - see the "Options" button) and you can share the URL eg. izzy.nogig.in/spain? izzy.nogig.in/usa? etc. Whenever someone shares a URL it increments a counter for that location, and hopefully some of your followers will join in too and request a gig in their country, and their friends/followers can do the same etc etc. The URL can also be shared on forums, the map can be directly embedded into any other website, or you can get a QR code for mobile/tablets to scan too. Done. And that was my first tweet btw. Thanks Will!

Chopaway.com is permanently closing on 22nd July 2013. Please save the lyrics/articles/tabs etc if you will want copies in future Thanks go to everyone who ever contributed and helped out on the site - Ed, Nick, Nicole, Markus, Michael, Sen etc etc - everyone who translated articles, transcribed lyrics, etc. My dog was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous tumor a few months back, and whilst he's responded well to his operation and the first 3 chemotherapy treatments I just don't want to waste any more of my time online than I have to Hope you all understand, and that someone else will start a new fansite (feel free to take all of the info from chopaway.com). Cheers all, take care, Will

I just saw the your tweet in the GN'R twitters widget in the sidebar at a-4-d.com. Sad but understandable situation. Here's wishing you quality time with that dog who is lucky to have you. By the way, how many years has Chopaway.com been up and running?

By the way, how many years has Chopaway.com been up and running? Thanks Chopaway opened on 23rd October 2006 but I had a few fansites running before then (first one launched in 2001 sometime).
