I'm re-reading the "slash" book and in it he says on more than one occasion the they recorded 36 songs for the illusion albums, however in total there are only 30 and two of these "my world" and "don't cry (alternate)", the band claims they knew nothing about until the albums were mixed n' mastered. The spaghetti incident was recorded during the illusion tours, that leaves 8 songs unaccounted for, does anyone have any ideas what they are?

Weren't there a few unreleased songs aswell? I remember something about an old Hanoi Rocks song they covered, titled like 'Beer & Cigars' or something, being among those unreleased tracks..

I think Crash Diet, Bring It Back Home, Sentimental Movie, and Just Another Sunday would be four of the tracks. There on the Unwanted Illusions bootleg and were recorded at R.S. Studios, Canoga Park, LA Spring 1990

Yeah, i know these track, but did crash diet not appear on the rumbo demos which first appeared shortly after appetite. I had an album call "bang bang a new western thriller" (or similar) which had crash diet on it as well as 2 versions of november rain, a guitar based one and a piano based one and other songs that were linked to be on appetite (don't cry, rocket queen and anything goes). There are also a couple of versions of Crash diet and i reckon slash doesn't play on one of them, the solo is not his style.
The other songs sound possibly to be correct as all including crash diet have drum machine loops rather than a drummer and steven was out of it at this time.
I just get the impression from the book that there was 36 track ready to be mastered and all these are only demos and if these were the songs i think in a vault somewhere better versions are there plus some more songs.

I agree with you Rumba. It is strange. I do not believe the four songs Will mentioned were all among them. I would think that they are lost somewhere when the 'real' GNR disbanded. Axl would rather use new material after this period.

All of these songs, what we have are only in demo version, that's not to say there are not other versions out there that we do not have access to that have been mastered. However, crash diet was given to asphalt ballet to record and was released on their album pigs. So generally I'm not convinced that these are the songs that slash was referring to.
